Run by Nexus – FREE Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) awareness & info sessions for Sports, Faith & Community Sector staff & volunteers in Northern Ireland

May 16 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The reality of CSE in our communities

Did you know that in Northern Ireland, 6% of children (141 children) listed on the child protection register at 31 March 2022, had sexual abuse – including child sexual exploitation (CSE) – listed as the reason why? (Barnardo’s, ‘Child Exploitation: A Hidden Crisis’, June 2023).

We also know this number is likely to be much higher due to under-reporting in this area and increased prevalence of online CSE.

We’re committed to helping tackle the issue

As part of our commitment to #BreakTheCycle of sexual abuse and abusive relationships, we’re proudly working in partnership with the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland to deliver FREE online awareness and information sessions to anyone working with children in the sports, faith, or community sectors in NI.

We have two online sessions running – one this month and one next month. We’re also exploring the possibility of holding an in-person session in the Western Health & Social Care Trust Area on Wednesday 26th June. If you’d be keen to attend this, please let us know by expressing your interest via the link below. Please note that this in-person session may be replaced with an online session based on demand.

What you’ll learn

With these sessions we aim to increase participants’ awareness of:

What Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is
What the warning signs are, and
How to best support and signpost as part of safeguarding children

Ready to make a difference?

By joining one of these sessions, you’ll not only enrich the lives of the young people you work with but also invest in a brighter, healthier future for your community.

If you work in one of the sectors above, you can play your part to prevent harm by attending either of our upcoming FREE online sessions via one of the buttons below, or express your interest for the free in-person session
